Philosophy of Care

We will:

  • provide a 12 week assessment based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Need to identify the needs of individual children or young people which will assist in recognising and planning care requirements for their long-term placement

  • provide a comfortable, non-institutionalised environment for children and young people to live and begin to work towards a positive future

  • provide a blend of experienced staff including those qualified in social care, teaching and related professions as a balance to those who can offer life experiences and other skills

  • work with children and young people to enable them to contribute to planning their future and to accept responsibility for their actions

  • actively support children/young people away from criminal activity and substance mis-use

  • support children and young people to feel part of the local community and encourage them to participate in outside interests and join local clubs/groups

  • provide opportunities to form relationships with adults and other children/young people and to develop these relationships to prepare them for adulthood

  • accept placements for boys and girls aged between 10 – under 18 with the aim of providing a stable, caring environment

  • help build self-esteem, confidence and the skills required for the adult world

  • actively work with other agencies to help children and young people participate in a suitable, educational programme in mainstream or specialist provision; to gain skills through training or work experience to enter the world of work
